Most of you know that aluminium sheet can keep an oven clean. I’m sure you wouldn’t dream of camping without it. It has many more uses than you might imagine and can save a lot of money and time as some of the more hidden uses are brought to light
Cleaning tarnished silver Line a pan with aluminium sheet. Fill with cold water. Add 2 teaspoons (10 mls) salt and drop your silverware in. Let it sit for 2-3 minutes before you rinse, dry and put away. To help deter tarnish from your freshly cleaned silverware, store on top of a sheet of aluminium sheet. It's easy, quick and makes it look good as new for when you want to break out the fancy silverware. Improve Radiator Efficiency Do you have an old cast iron radiator? Make a heat reflector by placing sheet (shiny side out) on a piece of cardboard and place it behind your radiator. The heat will reflect off the aluminium sheet and fill the room rather than soak into the wall and go to waste. On cold nights, who doesn’t want a little extra heat? Sharpen Your Scissors That’s right. You can sharpen your scissors with aluminium sheet. This can be done with leftover strips of sheet. Fold them into several layers and start cutting. Do this 7 – 8 times to see amazing results. It's easy to do and spares you from fighting with a dull scissors. Speed Your Ironing When ironing clothing, a lot of the iron’s heat is absorbed by the ironing board itself. This causes you to have to make several passes over the clothes to get those wrinkles out. You can speed things up by placing a sheet underneath you ironing board cover. This will reflect the heat back up through the clothing removing wrinkles faster. It's basically reusing the same trick to store a little more heat in the room. Definitely saves time. Cleaning Pots Have food stuck to your pots and no steel wool? No problem. Crumple a handful of sheet and use it to scrub your pots good as new. This also works for cleaning your clothes iron if it gets a starch residue on it. Just toss it away after use. Fix Loose Batteries Is your torch light or children’s toys working intermittently? This can happen when the springs that hold the batteries in place lose their tension allowing batteries to come out of place. To fix this, simply fold a small piece of sheet until it’s big enough to take up the slack and place between the spring and the battery. Kind of like how you would fold up a piece of paper to keep the table from wobbling. As you can see, aluminium sheet is not just for cooking and storing food. In fact, it is quite versatile and has many uses outside of the kitchen. Take a look around and see how aluminium sheet can simplify and better your life.
